Maurizio Donadi
Maurizio Donadi graduated in Enology from the University of Padua and has built his path through several agricultural projects, including Casera Frontin in Valbelluna and Casa Costa Signor among the Treviso hills. Two different but complementary territories allow Maurizio to explore various expressions of artisanal wine while maintaining a strong connection to the agricultural landscape. Here the winemaker decided to recover some family vineyards to start a viticulture founded on respect for the land. Alongside him works his wife Fabiola Collatuzzo, with whom he shares a vision of simple, traditional farming.
Maurizio Donadi and Fabiola cultivate all the vineyards following organic and biodynamic practices, aiming to preserve biodiversity and soil vitality. The rows coexist with spontaneous meadows and over three hundred fruit trees, creating a rich and harmonious ecosystem. Alongside traditional varieties such as Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir, they also grow PIWI grapes, selected for their disease resistance, requiring fewer treatments and better adapting to challenging climatic conditions. Vineyard work favors natural preparations, green manure, and organic fertilization, respecting the natural cycles of the vine. This approach restores the vineyard’s role as a living, autonomous ecosystem.
In the cellar, Maurizio Donadi’s work continues with the same philosophy of simplicity that guides his vineyard practices. Vinifications follow an essential approach, with fermentations initiated by indigenous yeasts naturally present on the skins. The musts continue their evolutionary path without filtration or fining, preserving the fruit’s integrity and the identity of the terroir. In many cases, wines are re-fermented in the bottle with extended aging on the lees to make them softer and to define their personality and character. Maurizio conveys in the glass both the mountainous character of Valbelluna and the winemaking tradition of the Treviso hills.
