Domaine Stoeffler
Domaine Stoeffler is a historic family estate located along the Alsace Wine Route, between Barr, Mittelbergheim, and Heiligenstein, with additional vineyard plots in Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr. Its sixteen hectares form a mosaic of clay, sandstone, and limestone soils capable of offering a remarkable variety of expressions. More than forty labels, including Grands Crus, Lieu-dit wines, and Vendanges Tardives, tell the story of a deep and multifaceted Alsace, where each parcel has its own distinct voice. The terroir is the true protagonist and guides every decision, from vineyard to bottle.
For over twenty years, Domaine Stoeffler has followed the principles of organic farming, without pesticides or synthetic treatments. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, with careful selection of grape clusters at the optimal stage of ripeness. Throughout the year, targeted vineyard practices such as trellising and green harvesting are carried out to improve airflow between the rows and to control yields. Soil management is done exclusively with mechanical tools and only at a superficial level, preserving the structure of the land. This approach supports biodiversity and protects the balance of the ecosystem, from microorganisms to small mammals.
In the cellar, the work at Domaine Stoeffler remains intentionally minimal. Fermentations begin with indigenous yeasts, without additives or corrections. Aging takes place on the fine lees in neutral oak barrels, allowing the wine to evolve without altering its character. Every choice aims at purity and stability. The Rieslings display vibrant freshness and a clear mineral texture; the Pinot Noir reveals smoky nuances and a velvety consistency; while parcels such as Salzhof combine intensity with a lingering saline finish.
