Verdicchio di Matelica Collestefano 2024
Bestseller
Organic and biodynamicThe Verdicchio from Matelica by Collestefano is a medium-bodied, expressive, and territorial white wine. Juicy and varied fruity notes contribute to enriching a fresh, savory, and dynamic aromatic fabric
The Verdicchio di Matelica from the family-run winery Collestefano represents a light and smooth interpretation of the territory, produced according to the principles of certified organic farming. The estate is located in Castelraimondo, among the hills of the Valle Camertina, a plateau closed to the sea that enjoys a temperate climate. Here, since its arrival in the 1960s, the Marchionni family has managed the vineyards under organic farming, certified since 1995. Organic fertilization, low use of copper in plant protection treatments, traditional winemaking, and limited use of sulfur represent just some of the practices adopted by the Marchionni.
Collestefano Verdicchio di Matelica is made from only Verdicchio grapes grown at 420 meters above sea level on medium-textured soils rich in limestone. The vines, coming from a mass selection of local clones, are cultivated under certified organic farming. The harvest is done by hand in small crates, and the grapes are then subjected to a gentle pressing, with the must obtained going through a slow alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at low temperature. The subsequent maturation phase, which takes place on the fine lees, occurs in steel for 4 months, and malolactic fermentation is not carried out in order to preserve the freshness of the finished wine.
The Verdicchio di Matelica Collestefano expresses a straw yellow color with characteristic greenish reflections. The olfactory range consists of intense and varied aromas of white-fleshed fruit, citrus fruits such as cedar and grapefruit, apple, wildflowers, and almond. On the palate, it is elegant, juicy, and dynamic, with a vibrant fresh-salty push and a pleasant fruity and almond finish.
