Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva Villa Bucci 2021
Perfect to give as a gift
Organic and biodynamicThe Verdicchio Riserva di Villa Bucci is a full-bodied and intense white wine, round and complex, aged for 18 months in oak barrels. Aromas of fruit, spices, aromatic herbs, honey, and hazelnuts accompany a soft and rich sip, elegant and balanced. The freshness of Verdicchio combined with the complexity of barrel aging!
The Verdicchio Classico Riserva “Villa Bucci” is an atypical white wine. We can define it as atypical because, with closed eyes, one could almost mistake it for a red wine. And this can only generate implications for the wine enthusiast who will have to treat it like a red. Starting from the serving temperature which, especially for the less recent vintages, should not be extremely cold as is usually done with whites, but should be just a bit lower than room temperature; the recommendation we feel to give is 16°-18°C.
Being a masked red wine is undoubtedly the peculiarity of this Verdicchio Classico Riserva; a characteristic that comes from the long aging in barrel first and in bottle later. An aging that evolves the wine's aromas, putting in the background the primary, typically floral ones, and bringing forth with significant typicity the secondary and tertiary ones. Aromatic herbs, spices, savory and mineral notes that are enhanced with oxygenation; for this reason, we recommend letting it breathe in the glass.
The vineyard “Villa Bucci” with its 40 years, is one of the oldest of the Jesi estate; an age that allows the vineyard to have well-developed roots, capable of bringing the nutrients of the earth into the grape first and into the wine later. An advantage that is at the base of this Verdicchio Classico Riserva “Villa Bucci”; a white wine ‘transformed’ into red, with a nose that opens with notes of honey and hazelnut, finishing with spicy notes, of complex, imposing and elegant structure.
