The “Praepositus” line represents the expressive peak of the South Tyrolean whites signed by Abbazia di Novacella, which stand out for particular precision and freshness, elegantly crafted in every detail. It is a white wine with an intriguing character, marked by a delicate complexity and a distinctive smoky note.
“Praepositus” Gruner Veltliner from Abbazia di Novacella is made from the pure Veltliner grape variety. It comes from only estate vineyards, facing Southwest and located at an altitude between 650 and 700 meters above sea level, characterized by sandy and gravelly soils. At the time of harvest, the grapes are selected and picked, then transported to the winery where they are vinified. A gentle pressing allows for the extraction of the must, which is started to alcoholic fermentation through the action of indigenous yeasts. It takes place inside steel tanks, where it ages for about 6 months. This is followed by 3 months of bottle maturation before commercialization.
The Abbazia di Novacella Gruner Veltliner "Praepositus" presents itself in the glass with an intense and bright straw-yellow color. On the nose, it reveals a fruity note of grapefruit and melon, enriched by a floral hint of lavender and a spicy trail. It finishes with a very expressive smoky finish, refining a bouquet that is, overall, of great elegance. On the palate, it shows a beautiful balance among its components, given by the fresh and savory vein, the softness, and the alcohol content.
