Valtellina Superiore Dirupi 2022
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThe Valtellina Superiore by Dirupi is an elegant and full-bodied red wine, born from century-old vines on steep slopes, aged for 12 months in oak barrels. Broad and elegant aromas and an intense, warm, and enveloping taste express all the energy of the Nebbiolo from the Alps.
The Valtellina Superiore Dirupi is one of the most vivid and changing expressions of the entire typology, where the quality of the fruit from the centenary vines emerges in all its splendor. The expression heroic viticulture takes on different meanings depending on the real working conditions that a winemaker faces every day, and this is why in the case of the Dirupi winery, the expression nomen omen holds true. Impressive slopes, where the arduous work of enhancement undertaken by Pierpaolo Di Franco and Davide Fasolini finds gratification in being able to rely on ultracentenary Chiavennasca vines, capable of producing fruit of incredible quality when placed in the right conditions to do so. The liquids obtained, also the offspring of a sensitive and prudent agriculture, possess a stylistic definition and a clarity that are truly enviable, and are undoubtedly among the most enjoyable and engaging expressions in their respective typologies. One of the true faces of Valtellina.
The Dirupi Valtellina Superiore is obtained from a pure expression of Chiavennasca, the local name given to Nebbiolo, obtained from very old vines located on terraces, with slopes varying between 30-70%, and characterized by morainic soils rich in sand. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, the work is done as respectfully as possible, also in order to preserve the heritage of old vines, and in the winery, alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel with a long maceration of 25-30 days and aging of 12 months in French oak barrels of 20-35 Hl.
The Valtellina Superiore wine presents itself in the glass with the typical ruby dress that turns towards garnet. Splendid nose, where the finesse of Nebbiolo combines with the usual brightness of local expressions, allowing the liquid to sequentially propose hints of cherry, orange peel, dog rose, and forest hints. A sinuous and enveloping sip, perfectly balanced between body, freshness, and fine tannic grain. A delicious red.
