Rosso 'Urban' Masiero 2020

The Rosso “Urban” from the Vicenza estate of Franco Masiero is a classic Bordeaux blend produced in the lands of Vicenza. In this area of Veneto, the most famous international red grape varieties were introduced during the 19th century and have adapted very well, becoming the most widespread. The label represents a fresh and fragrant version, which, thanks to a refinement carried out without the use of wood, preserves a rich and expressive fruit that directly expresses all the primary characteristics of ripe and quality grapes.

“Urban” Rosso by Masiero is a wine that transparently tells the style of a winery that has made genuine simplicity a stylistic hallmark of its production. The estate is located near Trissino, and the vineyards of Merlot and Cabernet Franc are managed under biodynamic agriculture, fully respecting the environmental ecosystem and natural biodiversity. No chemical products are used, and the only treatments applied are based on sulfur, copperand biodynamic preparations such as cow horn manure or horn silica. The grapes come from old vines planted in 1940 on predominantly limestone soils, which give grapes of remarkable aromatic concentration. After manual harvesting, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in open wooden vats. The wine matures for about a year in cement tanks and for a few months in the bottle.

The Rosso “Urban” wine by Masiero is a bottle that very well expresses the production philosophy of the company and the character of the terroir. The artisanal attention in all phases of production, from vineyard work to cellar practices, gives a bottle with a clear and authentic character. In the glass, it presents a beautiful intense and bright red. The olfactory profile mainly recalls small dark berry fruits, black currant, blackberry, blueberry, sour cherry, hints of spices and medicinal herbs. Soft and enveloping, it has a ripe and rich fruit, supported by a tannic structure well integrated into the body of the wine. The finish is fresh, savory, and of good length.
