Rosso 'Rio Fratta' Emilio Montesissa
Artisanal“Rio Fratta” by Emilio Montesissa is a red wine with a pleasant drinkability that captures with its charm and friendliness. It originates from the Piacenza hills, in Carpaneto Piacentino, in the Val Chero, where the Montesissa winery is located, led by the charismatic Elisabetta, the third generation of winemakers. In this area, the winemaking tradition dates back to the Romans, through numerous findings discovered in the territory. The same territory that the winery holds dear, respecting it by following methods that promote all forms of life that make the plant stronger, without synthetic chemical interventions.
Emilio Montesissa “Rio Fratta” is a blend of Syrah – in the highest percentage -, Bonarda, and Barbera. On the 4 hectares of land, there is also space for this international grape variety, not very common in this area, but which manages to express itself adequately even in Emilia, here rich in sandy clay. The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed after two days of resting. The maceration with the skins occurs without temperature control for about a month, with continuousracking. The bottling does not involve any filtration.
The “Rio Fratta” by Montesissa is a red that opens up to a distant world, with its echoes of refined spices. The red is of a deep and intense ruby color, the aromas trace the entire variety of the underbrush, while a spicy backdrop strongly floods the nostrils. Pepper is the dominant note, but also cinnamon and coriander. On the palate, it is particularly smooth and flowing, with a strong emphasis, again, on the spices, to which more vegetal hints are added. Fresh and easy to drink, with soft tannins, it can be the magical ally on many tables in a festive atmosphere: from vegetables to white meats, passing through mushrooms, which contrast and balance the structure excellently.
