Riesling Glou Glou de David Vins Pirouettes 2018
ArtisanalThe Riesling "Glou Glou de David" Vins Pirouettes by Binner is partly a classic Riesling, fresh, savory and fruity, on the other hand it is a product created to be drunk immediately. 'Les Vins Pirouettes' is a collaborative project between Christian Binner and other artisan producers in the area. Direct is intense to the nose, with hints of citrus, green apple and yellow pulp fruit, while the palate has all the characteristics of Riesling, great compactness and persistence but has great ease of drinking, as the name suggests
The ‘Glou Glou de David’ Riesling Les Vins Pirouettes is a typically aromatic expression made by a group of Alsatian producers in synergy with the winery Christian Binner, a renowned vigneron biodynamic. The project is named “Les Vins Pirouettes” and allows these winemakers to produce their own wine under the supervision of Christian, tired of seeing small wineries forced to sell their excellent quality grapes to large cooperatives that process them inadequately. A fundamental premise of the project is that the winemakers operate in the name of sustainability.
The ‘Glou Glou de David’ Riesling from Les Vins Pirouettes and Christian Binner is produced solely with Riesling grapes from 45-year-old vines cultivated according to biodynamic principles on granitic soils. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand and the bunches are then gently pressed directly, with the resulting must placed in stainless steel tanks for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation. Also, the subsequent maturation period of 11 months on the fine lees takes place in steel and the wine is finally bottled without added sulfites and without undergoing clarifications and filtrations.
To the eye, Les Vins Pirouettes and Christian Binner Riesling ‘Glou Glou de David’ expresses a hazy straw yellow color with golden hues. On the nose, fragrant and slightly aromatic notes of lemon, green apple, yellow peach, exotic fruit, and white flowers follow one another. Compact, light, and very drinkable is the taste, outlined by excellent fresh-salty push and good aromatic and mineral persistence. An Alsatian Riesling that pairs exceptionally well with various fish-based preparations, including Eastern cuisine.
