'Primi Passi' Sagona 2024
Artisanal
Exclusive wineryThe "Primi Passi" by Sagona is a pleasant and fine white wine. It is produced from Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes harvested from three vineyards: Vigna Grossa, La Badia, and I Piccioni, all clay soils that provide intensity and balance the fragrance and delicacy of Malvasia. On the nose, there are hints of white fruits and light citrus notes, along with herbaceous, iodized, and floral notes. On the palate, Malvasia is recognized thanks to its persistent fragrance, while Trebbiano adds savoriness and structure, balancing the smooth and fresh sip.
The ‘Primi Passi’ from the Tuscan winery Sagona is a white interpretation of the territory of Loro Ciuffenna, located in the Arezzo area, a handcrafted blend of the local grape varieties Malvasia and Trebbiano that is appreciated for its genuine and straightforward character. The town of Loro Ciuffenna is situated between Florence and Arezzo, near the Valdarno, and boasts ancient Etruscan origins. Originally, the municipality was simply known as “Loro”, from the Latin “laurus”, which means “laurel”, while the name “Ciuffenna” derives from the river of the same name that runs through the town and was only added at the end of the 1800s.
Sagona ‘Primi Passi’ consists of a blend of Malvasia Bianca (80%) and Trebbiano Toscano (20%), varieties grown at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level on predominantly clay and loam soils, with an excellent south-west exposure. The agronomic management follows the principles of organic farming and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand. The bunches are then pressed in stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with a short skin maceration. Also in steel, the maturation phase of about 5 months takes place before the final bottling.
The Tuscan white wine ‘Primi Passi’ Sagona has a straw-yellow color with golden hues. The nose is composed of floral and fruity suggestions reminiscent of peach and white flowers, enriched by pleasant citrus, iodine, and slightly herbal perceptions. It has a good structure and intensity on the palate, characterized by a tense fresh-salty component that accompanies the aromatic sensations on the finish. A perfect white wine to pair with appetizers and first courses of both sea and land, as well as with local cheeses such as slightly aged pecorino.
