Fratelli Agnes 'Possessione del Console' is characterized as a full-bodied red wine with character, resulting from an authentic and genuine production approach. For over a century, the Agnes family has been dedicated to wine production in Rovescala, in the Oltrepò Pavese area. In this territory, Cristiano and Sergio Agnes, currently leading the estate, cultivate almost exclusively Bonarda, the local name that identifies the Croatina grape, offered in various styles all sharing a remarkable expressive purity. In certain plots, there is also an ancient and rare clone known as Pignolo, named for the characteristic tight and compact shape of the bunches.
The 'Possessione del Console' by Fratelli Agnes is produced with red grapes grown without the use of synthetic chemicals, with the utmost respect for the environment and the wine's healthiness. The vineyard, consisting of very old plants, is located on a high hillside facing west. In the winery, the grapes are vinified between steel and vitrified cement tanks, with the alcoholic fermentation entrusted exclusively to the yeasts present on the grapes and in the winery environment. Throughout the entire processing, the mass is not subjected to any filtration operations.
