The Pinot Noir Reserve "Abtei Muri" is a full-bodied, elegant and soft red wine that ages for 12 months in barrique. It seduces the nose with its aromas of ripe red-fleshed fruit, plum jams, sweet spices and hints of wood and toasting. It conquers the palate with its roundness and refinement, showcasing a structured and rich texture, with well-integrated tannins.
The Pinot Noir Reserve “Abtei Muri” from Muri-Gries is one of the excellences of this historic winery in Bolzano, located within the namesake convent. It is a true institution, founded in 1845, when Swiss Benedictine monks from Muri took over the Augustinian Abbey of Greis. Even today, the Abbey cultivates vineyards and produces high-quality wines. Pinot Noir is one of the international grape varieties that the winery particularly values; in Alto Adige, it expresses itself with particular finesse and elegance. The ripe fruit and a characteristic mineral freshness offer a high-level tasting experience.
The Abtei Muri is a Pinot Noir Reserve of great charm, the result of the meticulous work carried out by a winery that has been an essential point of reference for Alto Adige wine for centuries. Muri-Gries manages an estate of about 35 hectares, partly within the convent walls and the rest in the area around the city of Bolzano and on the first hills of Appiano. The area of Appiano Monte has proven to be the most suitable for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 500 and 600 meters above sea level, with a sunny exposure facing south. The soils are predominantly composed of calcareous gravel, very suitable for the needs of Pinot Noir. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 27°C. The wine matures for 12 months in barriques and completes its aging with a few months in the bottle.
“Abtei Muri” Blauburgunder is a label that originates in a Benedictine monastery, which is now part of the urban fabric of Bolzano. It is a pure Pinot Noir of great balance and freshness, made with grapes of excellent quality and with winemaking and aging techniques that draw on the best traditions of Burgundy. It is an intense ruby red glass, with slight garnet reflections. It captivates with a delicate and fragrant olfactory profile, recalling notes of small berries, cherry, spicy hints, and vanilla memories. It is a medium-bodied redstructure, with an elegant and smooth sip, opening up to fine aromas, woven by a thin and silky tannic train. The finish is long, fresh, and slightly savory. A wine to discover for all Pinot Noir lovers.
