The Pinot Noir Gumphof is an elegant, clean, and fresh expression of the Isarco Valley, matured in barrique for 12 months. The bouquet of berries, mountain flowers, and black pepper enlivens a delicate and fine sip, highlighted by a composed and well-integrated tannin

The Pinot Nero “Praesulis” is one of the latest creations from Gumphof. The winery is located in the southern area of the Valle Isarco, at the foot of the Sciliar massif. Here, it is influenced by the currents coming from Lake Garda, including the breeze known as “Ora del Garda”, and those coming from the Dolomites. A natural blend of climate, environment, and soil provides Markus Prackwieser Gump Hof with the necessary conditions to create quality wines with strong expressiveness. The Pinot Nero “Praesulis” tells of alpine freshness and the South Tyrolean woods, encapsulating all its personality and history in a unique and authentic expression. The activity of the Gumphof winery is always aimed at experimentation and comparison with important foreign wine realities in order to continue the pursuit of high quality.

This version of “Praesulis” is a pure Pinot Nero, coming from grapes of vineyards located at an altitude between 500 and 550 meters above sea level. Here the soils are calcareous morainic soils on a base of quartz porphyry. The slope of the land varies from 50 to 70%, making agronomic management quite laborious. A week of cold maceration precedes the phase of maceration and alcoholic fermentation, which lasts about 2 weeks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barrique, as does the maturation of 1 year.

“Praesulis” Pinot Nero from Gumphof presents itself with an intense ruby red color to the eye. Its aroma unfolds in red and forest fruits, dark berries, and violet, with a spicy background. On the palate, it expresses elegance, drawing a perfect combination between tannin and freshness. It is a juicy and fragrant wine, reminiscent of its land made of woods and rocks, caressed by the cool alpine wind that marks the finesse of Gumphof wines.
