It colors the glass with a pale red, releasing aromas of red fruit, cherries, spices, and slight rustic hints of underbrush. It stands out on the palate for its smooth, crisp, and drinkable character, with a lively freshness.
The Pinot Noir “Junior” from Monsupello originates from the hills of Oltrepò Pavese, a territory renowned for its historic and excellent wine production. The winery has been historically run by the Boatti family, who have lived and cultivated the lands in the Cà del Tava area of Oliva Gessi since 1893. Over time, generation after generation, production has been expanded and modernized with the introduction of an updated winemaking facility, bottling, and storage; today, brothers Pierangelo and Laura carry on the family’s historic work with their eyes always set on the future.
The vineyards of Pinot Noir “Junior” from Monsupello are rooted in soil composed of clay and limestone for structured wines. The exposure is southwest, an excellent position for the grapes to reach their full ripeness before harvest. In the vineyard, the sought-after yield is never higher than possible, in order to ensure harmonious and quality products. In this area, the summers are particularly hot and dry, while the winters are cold, humid, and foggy. The harvest is manual, and the best bunches are selected.placed in crates. In the winery, the bunches are destemmed and then undergo alcoholic fermentation and after 10 days, malolactic fermentation. It ages in steel for a few months.
Visually, the Pinot Noir “Junior” from Monsupello presents a ruby red color; the bouquet of aromas is broad and reminiscent of cherry, strawberry, and berries, with a finish of forest spices and underbrush. On the palate, it reveals itself to be fresh, crisp and elegant with a well-integrated tannin in the structure. It pairs excellently with mushroom risotto, cuts of grilled and braised red meat; also interesting with aged cheeses. A product of rare quality, the result of the careful and meticulous work of generations that continue to update their production method to keep the business in line with the times.
