Pinot Nero 'Donà Noir' Hartmann Donà 2016
The Pinot Noir "Donà Noir" by Hartmann Donà is an elegant and intense South Tyrolean red wine from the municipality of Cornaiano. Ages in oak barrels for at least 23 months and expresses a sinuous and enveloping sensoriality, with a rich and material sip, with aromatic references of cassis, wild strawberries, licorice roots, gentian and oriental spices, prolonging a persistent, fresh and mineral finish.
The Pinot Nero "Donà Noir" by Hartmann Donà is a version of the famous Burgundy grape with great personality, which interprets the terroir of origin very well. The grape variety has been present for centuries in Alto Adige, where it is cultivated with excellent results, thanks to particularly favorable, cool, and breezy climatic conditions. It is an elegant interpretation that favors finesse over concentration and presents the classic fresh and subtle profile that characterizes mountain wines. It is a red made with great respect for the excellent quality of the grapes, vinified with a light enology that allows appreciation of the varietal notes of the grape and the peculiar characteristics of the territory.
The "Donà Noir" is a pure Pinot Nero produced by one of the most famous and esteemed vignerons of Alto Adige. After an experience as an oenologist at the Cantina di Terlano, Hartmann Donà decided to create his personal project. In the small estate of Cermes, a town south of Merano, genuine and straightforward wines are born,genuine and straightforward, capable of sincerely interpreting the nuances of the territory. To create this version of Pinot Noir, only the best grapes from the vineyards planted in 1995 in Ronco di Cornaiano, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, on a splendid and sunny slope beautifully exposed to the east, are used. The vines dig their roots deep into glacial moraine soils, poor and rather stony. Fermentation occurs using only natural yeasts and takes place in oak vats, with a skin maceration of 3 to 4 weeks. The wine rests in wooden barrels for about two years and completes its aging with another two years in the bottle.

The label expresses this extraordinary result of perfect fusion between different components. The wine presents itself with a red color bright ruby and expresses elegant aromas of currant, sour cherry, and small dark berry fruits, delicate spicy notes, and slight floral hints. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with fine tannins well integrated into the body of the wine. The aromas are complex and provide a splendid sensation of taste harmony, leading to a fresh and persistent finish.
