Pinot Blanc 'Kritt' Marc Kreydenweiss 2023
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThe Pinot Bianco "Kritt" is a white Alsatian wine with great territorial adherence, matured for 15 months in oak barrels on the fine lees. On the nose, it reveals floral notes of acacia, fruity aromas of pear, quince and apricot, supported by a mineral verve with hints of white pepper. On the palate, it has a beautiful cutting freshness, almost citrusy, accompanied by a pleasant sapidity.
‘Kritt’ Pinot Blanc Marc Kreydenweiss is a craft label from Alsace capable of enchanting the senses with its incisive minerality and refreshing freshness. Biodynamically farmed since 1989, the Marc Kreydenweiss winery is located in Andlau, between Strasbourg and Colmar, in the heart of the Alsatian wine region. In this terroir among the most suited in the world for the production of white wines, the Kreydenweiss family cultivates about 13 hectares of vineyards that in some plots, due to the extremely high planting density that does not allow mechanization, can only be worked with the help of horses. The Norwegian term “kritt”, which gives its name to the bottle, translates to “chalk”, probably chosen to highlight its mineral character.
The Marc Kreydenweiss Pinot Blanc ‘Kritt’ is made from a blend of Pinot Bianco and Auxerroise, sourced from vines aged between 20 and 40 years. The vineyards, located at 200 meters above sea level with a southern exposure and rooted in rich clay soilsof quartz, are cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The grapes are hand-harvested and then gently pressed whole, and the must obtained undergoes spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Subsequently, the mass rests for 15 months in oak barrels on the fine lees before being bottled.
In the glass, the ‘Kritt’ Pinot Blanc Alsace by Marc Kreydenweiss expresses an intense straw yellow color with golden reflections. The aromatic bouquet is vast, defined by notes of apricot, apple, melon, pear, and white flowers, adorned with hints of graphite, pepper, and flint. A vertical and citrusy tasting, in balance between the soft components and the bright fresh-salty verve.
