Munjebel Rosso Magnum Frank Cornelissen 2022
ArtisanalMunjebel Rosso Magnum is a full-bodied and traditional expression of Nerello Mascalese and of old sapling vines from Etna. It is produced in fiberglass tanks, without additives. Intense mineral and fruity scents emerge from a long and complex taste.
The Munjebel Magnum Rosso by Cornelissen is one of the most complex and multifaceted expressions of Frank's wines, a fusion of imposing structure and deep salinity. Undeniably, we find ourselves in the elite of Italian artisanal wines with this interpretation, the result of old bush-trained vineyards scattered among various local districts. The Munjebel Rosso comes from a blend of these, unlike the single vineyards that are bottled with their reference label, and for this reason, one can only admire the skillful balance between the various components of the individual vineyards: the power of Monte Colla, the Burgundian finesse of Chiusa Spagnolo, the balance of the Cru Porcaria. To drink, to feel emotions, and never to look back: a journey in which Frank leads us with each of his creations, climbing Etna and dominating the landscape from above. Imaginative.
The Magnum Munjebel is obtained from pure Nerello Mascalese grapes, sourced from old bush-trained vines over 60 years old scattered among the districts of Chiusa Spagnolo, Monte Colla, Porcaria, Crasa, Piano Daini on the northern slope of Etna. If in vineyard, has always, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, and no type of treatment, in the cellar, after manual harvesting and careful selection of the bunches, continues with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in fiberglass tanks, without the addition of sulfur or filtration of the liquid. It then ages for 18 months in neutral fiberglass tanks.
The Cornelissen Munjebel has a deep and particularly lively ruby red color. Layered and extremely deep nose, where hints of blackberry, dark spices, Mediterranean scrub, and citrus peel gradually emerge. The term "mineral", so overused, takes on almost tangible connotations during the olfaction of the liquid. A rich and complete sip, which combines powerful structure, finesse, and a contribution of salt and freshness. A top-class wine from Etna in a celebratory Magnum format.
