Morey Saint Denis Aurelien Verdet 2020
ArtisanalAurelien Verdet's Morey Saint Denis is a Bourgogne red made with Pinot Noir, produced by a winery known for its attention to quality and purity in its wines. Morey Saint Denis is a Côte de Nuits appellation, a temple devoted to Burgundian reds, capable of delivering among the finest and most elegant wines in the world. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of red fruits, such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by subtle notes of underbrush, remembrances of fern, and intriguing hints of wood polish. In the mouth, the wine is velvety, with great breadth and breath. An important but also juicy profile with a delicate, almost shy touch: give it time and it will become an enchanting companion
The Morey-Saint-Denis by Aurélien Verdet is configured as a refined and intensely fragrant expression of this prestigious AOC of the Côte de Nuits. The Domaine of the Verdet family, located in the municipality of Arcenant, was among the first in all of Burgundy to obtain organic certification back in 1971 with Alain Verdet, father of the current owner Aurélien. Today, the talented Aurélien, in addition to passionately managing the approximately 5 hectares of vineyards he owns, collaborates with winemakers from various prestigious areas of the Côte de Nuits who share the same genuine approach, assisting them in the cultivation of the grapes that he then works with completely independently in his own cellar.
Aurélien Verdet Morey-Saint-Denis is produced with only Pinot Noir grapes grown according to the principles of organic farming on predominantly limestone soils. The clusters are harvested entirely by hand and are then vinified mostly whole through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins in stainless steel tanks and cement vats.cement. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is transferred to small barrels of French oak from Tronçais or the Vosges for 12 months of aging before the final bottling. Throughout the entire process, the use of external inputs is excluded, except for very low doses of sulfur dioxide.
The Pinot Noir Morey-Saint-Denis by Aurélien Verdet has a light ruby red color. The aromatic profile is defined by intense hints of Morello cherry, violet, peony, underbrush, clove, and polished wood. Rich and broad taste development, with great juiciness and finesse, featuring a velvety tannic texture and an incisive savory vein accompanying the lasting fruity and spicy persistence.
