Merlot 'Vianina900' Alla Costiera 2023
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThe Merlot "Vianina900" is a red wine of good intensity, born from 70-year-old vines grown on the Colli Euganei of Veneto. It is fermented with its indigenous yeasts and ages for 12 months in barrique. The aromatic profile of red fruit with vanilla notes evokes a sip of good softness and roundness, with an alcohol content well balanced by a finely polished tannin
The Merlot “Vianina900” from Alla Costiera is an extremely complete everyday red, a remarkable synthesis of fruit, sincere drinkability, and seductive texture. Although the Colli Euganei area is undoubtedly better known for the production of sparkling wines such as Prosecco, it should not be forgotten that it is precisely to the South-West of Padua that some of the so-called international red grape varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon give rise to some of the most interesting Italian expressions, which manage to combine elegance, freshness, and depth like the best examples from across the Alps. It is here that Filippo Gamba operates, founder of Alla Costiera, a small reality that has now become a reference point for enthusiasts due to deeply territorial liquids and an extremely favorable quality-price ratio. To this day, the winery is run according to the principles of biodynamics, enhancing both the main grape variety of the area, namely Glera, and others that, although not native, have become an integral part of the tradition such as Merlot, Carmenere, and Moscato. For those looking for everyday wines of depth and personality, this is a name to absolutely note in your agenda.
The red Merlot “Vianina900” is made from pure Merlot grapes, sourced from vineyards over 70 years old located on the western slope of the Colli Euganei, resting on calcareous and clay soils. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, operating according to the principles of Steinerian biodynamics. In the winery, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and maceration of 20-30 days on the skins are followed by aging of 12 months in barrique and 12 months in bottle.
The “Vianina 900” Merlot presents itself in the glass with the classic deep ruby hue with purple reflections. A rich and varied olfactory profile, with hints ranging from plum to tomato leaf, from toasted notes to underbrush. A sip of velvety texture, which despite a comforting softness is enlivened by remarkable freshness. A finish of just the right persistence, for a daily wine with a }]},{almost unbeatable price.
