ArtisanalThe “Profeta” is a deep and very intense red wine made from Merlot, slowly matured for 36 months in oak barrels and barriques. The aromatic profile is rich and complex, with hints of berries, balsamic herbs, and smoky nuances. The sip is powerful, articulated, harmonious, and very long.
The Merlot "Profeta" from the Tuscan winery Macchion dei Lupi is a deep and intense red. It is an important version of the great Bordeaux grape, which has found a second home in the inland of the Tuscan Coast, where it expresses itself at excellent quality levels. The long aging process in barrique gives a soft, complex, and enveloping wine. It is a Merlot with a Mediterranean and sunny face, featuring ripe and harmonious fruit, which offers a long and satisfying sip, powerful and persistent.
The "Profeta" Merlot is produced in the hilly area of Suvereto, not far from the Tyrrhenian coast of the Etruscan Coast. This area of Maremma Toscana is particularly suitable for the cultivation of Bordeaux varieties, which have found a perfect habitat for their needs. The suited soils and the Mediterranean climate, always mitigated by the sea breezes, allow the grapes to reach full and perfect ripeness with particularly rich and intense aromatic profiles. The Merlot vines are cultivated on clayey soils, rich in skeleton and volcanic origin minerals. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with only indigenous yeasts in French oak truncated-conical vats, without any temperature control. It then matures for 36 months in wood, partly in barrique and partly in oak vats, and is bottled without clarification or filtration.
The Merlot "Profeta" by Macchion dei Lupi is a red that manages to synthesize the best varietal qualities of a rich and mature Merlot, with the characteristics of the Tuscan coastal terroir. In the glass, it presents an intense and brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses aromas of cherry, marasca, small dark berry fruits, aromatic herbs, and balsamic and menthol sensations. On the palate, it is warm and structured, with an elegant and evolved tannic texture. The sip is very persistent and finishes with notes of great taste balance.
