Maria Costanza' Rosso Milazzo 2019
Callmewine's Favourites
Organic and biodynamicThe Rosso Maria Costanza by Milazzo is a Nero d'Avola from Sicily with a good personality, rich, Mediterranean, and warm profile, just like its land of origin. Hints of sweet spices and incense, notes of small red fruits, and mineral hints introduce a soft, velvety, and decidedly broad taste.
The Rosso “Maria Costanza” is a wine that manages to condense in itself the beauty and warmth of a splendid land, Sicily. A Mediterranean product, where red fruit and briny scents alternate with tertiary aromas, developed during the maturation period spent in wood, ensuring a wide and intense drink. Thanks to the work done by the Milazzo winery, a productive reality characterized by sustainable production, where biological methods are bearers of genuine labels, just like this “Maria Costanza”.
This “Maria Costanza” Rosso is born from the pure use of a great indigenous Sicilian red grape, Nero d’Avola. The vines of this variety are cultivated by the Milazzo winery using the guyot and spurred cordon systems, on a marl plateau, where the subsoil is mainly composed of clay and limestone. The grapes, cultivated following principles that refer to organic farming, once harvested during the harvest phase, ferment alcoholically in steel, macerating on the skins for 15 days. Then we proceed with the aging phase, which lasts for a period of 36 months between barriques and steel containers.
The Rosso “Maria Costanza” presents itself in the glass with an intense and compact hue, reminiscent of ruby, at times impenetrable. The aromas that make up its olfactory profile move around spicy and fruity notes, also enriched by light briny hints. On the palate, it is of excellent body, round and tactile, with a warm and enveloping palate. A bottle with which the Milazzo winery confirms its production path aimed at sustainability, where each label must carry a challenge that looks to the future while protecting the territory.
