The Organic Limoncello from Sorrento by the Piemme production company is a deliciously fragrant liqueur made with Sorrento lemons from organic farming. These lemons have been granted Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) due to their extraordinary qualities, characterized by an oval shape and medium-large size. However, what most distinguishes these lemons is the irresistible fragrance of the peel due to its particular richness in essential oils, different from common lemons. This aspect is the basis of the exceptional quality of the Sorrento limoncellos signed by Piemme.
The Organic Piemme Limoncello from Sorrento is made from a combination of Sorrento lemons, grown according to the strict regulations of organic farming and hand-picked, grain alcohol, and cane sugar, also from organic farming. In particular, the lemons grow on volcanic soil overlooking the sea in the microclimate of the western Sorrento coast, adopting the system of traditional cultivation of pergolas and “pagliarelle”. The processing process involves the infusion of lemon peels in a solution of grain alcohol and cane sugar, for a period ranging from 4 to 7 days. The entire process takes place in the internal Piemme laboratory under the careful supervision of the Quality Control Manager.
Visually, the Organic Limoncello from Sorrento Piemme shows an intense and bright yellow color. On the nose, sweet and pungent notes of lemon juice and peel are perceived, evoking the scents of the citrus groves of the Sorrento Peninsula. The taste is fresh, enveloping, and balanced, characterized by an intense and very Mediterranean finish with vivid citrus returns.
