Kerner 'Fels' Nals Margreid 2024
The Kerner from Nals Margreid is a fresh and elegant white wine that encapsulates all the clarity and aromatic cleanliness of the wines from Alto Adige. The Kerner “Fels”, produced by the South Tyrolean winery Nals Margreid, is a Kerner of great freshness and aromatic intensity, which clearly and directly reflects the best varietal characteristics of this interesting grape, born from a cross between the Riesling and Schiava Grossa vines. Particularly suited to cold climates, it has found its ideal terroir in Alto Adige and produces wines with good body, appreciated for their great density and pleasant taste. Due to its particular characteristics, it is a wine with a strong gastronomic vocation and pairs very well with dishes from Asian and Oriental cuisine, characterized by spicy or slightly hot notes.
The “Fels” of Nals Margreid comes from vineyards located above the village of Nalles, at an altitude between 500 and 600 meters above sea level, with a southeast exposure. The soils are of ancient morainic nature, very draining with a good presence of limestone. The soils rest on solid substrates of porphyry rocks of ancient volcanic origin. The cool climate, characterized strong thermal excursions, allows the grapes to reach full ripeness while maintaining excellent freshness. The harvest is done by hand and the best bunches are gently pressed, in order to extract only the free-run juice. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine matures in steel tanks on the lees, in order to enrich itself with structure and more complex and intense aromas.
The white Kerner “Fels” of Nals Margreid is a wine of great character, which perfectly expresses the strong personality of the grape variety and the pedoclimatic characteristics of the magnificent terroir of origin. In appearance, it presents a beautiful straw yellow color with clear luminous reflections. On the nose, it expresses an intense and rich aromatic palette, offering delicate floral nuances, citrus notes, hints of spices, and aromatic herbs, on a background of ripe white peach, Golden apple, and tropical fruit. With good structure and richness, it has a broad, deep, and persistent sip, which closes on pleasantly savory and mineral sensations.
