The Haiku is a red wine from Tuscany with an intense and decisive character, obtained from Sangiovese and international grape varieties, aged for 12 months in barrique. It expresses elegant hints of red fruit, spices, and underbrush. The sip is warm, enveloping, soft, spicy, and persistent.

The Haiku from Castello di Ama is an elegant and complex Tuscan red, born from a blend based on Sangiovese, integrated with two noble Bordeaux grape varieties, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The two French grapes have adapted very well to the lands of Chianti, producing very interesting and high-quality wines. The long aging period in barrique recalls the tradition of Bordeaux reds and gives a wine with a particularly harmonious, velvety, and balanced profile. Alongside the classic varietal notes of small berries, evolved hints of underbrush, spices, and woody nuances are added. It is a prestigious bottle, to be enjoyed with main courses of red meats, roasts, grilled meat, or game.

The Haiku wine is one of the creations of Castello di Ama, a company founded in the 1970s, which quickly established itself in the quality wine scene thanks to a production of absolute excellence. The estate is located in Gaiole in Chianti and extends over a total of 90 hectares, with prized vineyards cultivated at about 500 meters above sea level;Bellavista, La Casuccia, San Lorenzo, Bertinga, and Montebuoni. The lands, known for centuries as among the most vocated in the Chianti Classico area, allow for the production of grapes with particularly intense aromatic profiles. The sunny yet cool climate, with significant temperature variations, completes the picture. If we add to these extraordinary pedoclimatic conditions a philosophy always aimed at creating high-end labels, it is easy to produce wines that are among the best expressions of the land of Tuscany.

The Haiku red from Castello di Ama is made from grapes harvested in the Montebuoni vineyard, a 14-hectare plot facing south-southwest, at an altitude between 400 and 500 meters above sea level. The vines are planted in particularly suited soils of a calcareous-clay matrix, stony and rich in skeleton. The grapes are fermented separately in steel tanks using indigenous yeasts and a maceration on the skins of about 25 days. The wine matures 12 months in oak barriques, with 30% of first passage and the rest used. The aging period ends with 12 months in the bottle. In the glass, it presents a rather intense ruby red color and recalls aromas of small berries, currants, blueberries, cherries, shadowy hints of humus and underbrush, notes of vanilla, and delicately woody memories. It is a wine of remarkable structure, with a complex sip, aromatically rich, and a dense and elegant tannic texture. The finish is balanced and very persistent!
