The Friulano La Roncaia is a tribute to the territory of the Eastern Friulian Hills. The indigenous grape variety perfectly tells the story of these wonderful hills, dotted with acacia woods, chestnuts, and ancient oaks. It is Cergneu di Nimis, a small village of two thousand souls in the province of Udine, that hosts this traditional winery, which perfectly coexists with the landscape with its stone structure that integrates it into the surrounding nature. It is the skilled hands of winemaker Gabriele Rami that work in synergy with nature to shape labels strongly tied to the territory of origin.
La Roncaia produces its Friulano from grapes grown in guyot and cultivated on soils rich in marls, organized in neat terraces. The harvest takes place during the second half of September and is carried out manually in the vineyards of Tarcento, selecting the grapes at the peak of their ripeness. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures using selected yeasts. After a racking, it is left to age always in steel for 6 months on the noble lees, which give it greater structure and an unmistakable character.
The Friulano is an indigenous white that La Roncaia produces specifically according to traditional methods, as the peculiarities of this grape variety are precisely the historically recognizable and well-defined varietal characteristics. With a deep straw yellow, it recalls the golden rays of morning sunlight, immediately emanating strong scents of white fruit, crunchy green apple, and pear, alongside elderflower and the herbal notes linked to the aromaticity of thyme. The sip is fresh, soft, and perfectly balanced, in an extraordinary equilibrium between structure and elegance. Excellent especially when paired with a Prosciutto Crudo San Daniele, in a unique expression of territoriality that is often underestimated by the food and wine world, but always ready to satisfy the most greedy palates.
