Cremant de Savoie Brut Quenard
ArtisanalThe Cremant de Savoie Brut from Quenard is an artisanal sparkling wine produced by a historic family of the region, one of the standard bearers of the artisanal movement in Savoy. White fruit, citrus fruits and white flowers such as acacia arise from the glass, so fragrant that they entice one to sip. On the palate we find all the aromaticity we found on the nose, then the sip is very fresh, the bubble is fine but persistent and numerous. Ideal with fish, but also to be tried with alpine cheeses
The Cremant de Savoie from the domaine Quenard meets the strict requirements imposed by the production regulations to obtain a superior quality sparkling wine. The work carried out over the years has allowed Savoie to enter the great family of Metodo Classico, becoming the eighth region in importance for the production of long-aged bubbles.
André and Michel Quenard produce the Cremant de Savoie starting from the pure vinification of Jacquere grapes. The vines from which the fruits are harvested have an average age between 30 and 40 years, which at the time of harvest yield an estimated 60 hectoliters per hectare and are cultivated according to very strict principles of environmental sustainability. The clay-limestone matrix characterizes the soils, with an important skeleton of glacial gravel. The orientation of the soils faces south, along the steep slopes that from the Massif des Bauges, at altitudes approaching 1,000 meters above sea level, overlook the Isère valley, with the river flowing northeast to southwest. These are conditions that impose field work and harvest carried out exclusively by hand: the fruits are collected in small perforated boxes, to avoid any stagnation of juices and the deterioration of the berries. Upon arrival at the winery, the bunches are gently pressed and the slow fermentation in steel of the must allows for the production of the base wine. The sparkling effect is achieved with the inoculation of the specific liqueur de tirage at bottling and the aging on the lees lasts for at least 12 months. The final Brut dosage is extremely limited, within 2.5 grams of sugar per liter.
Cremant de Savoie Brut by Quenard appears with a clear aspect and very fine effervescence, dressed in a pale straw yellow color. The nose is sharp and penetrating, with floral sensations of small white petals and citrus notes of grapefruit. The fruity appeal is explicit even on the palate, revealing a sip of vertical freshness and decent volume, with a delicate and tonic bubble. Savoie cheeses are the ideal pairing for this balanced expression of Blanc de Blancs from the mountains.
