The Rosé Brut De Sousa is a Champagne produced by a small Maison, which has caught the attention of enthusiasts for the quality and purity of its Champagnes. The estate is located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, where the De Sousa family manages 11 hectares divided into 42 magnificent parcels, situated in areas classified as Grand Cru in the municipalities of Avize, Cramant, Oger, and Mesnil/Oger, with splendid sunny exposures facing south and southeast. The chalky subsoil gives the wines an extraordinary expressive finesse, accompanied by those characteristic iodized, saline, and mineral notes that distinguish the great Champagnes of the Côte des Blancs. The vineyards are managed with great attention and care for the environment, following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, with the awareness that only high-quality grapes can produce great wines. Each individual parcel is vinified separately, precisely to enhance the extraordinary characteristics of the terroir. The Brut Rosé is made with Chardonnay grapes coming from the vineyards cultivated in Grauves, while the Pinot Noir comes from the Grand Cru of Aÿ. At the end of the fermentations, the vins clairs mature for several months, until the moment of creating the final cuvée. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Champenoise method, with a stay on the lees of at least 30 months.
The Brut Rosé of Maison de Sousa stands out for its particular finesse, due to a prevalence of Chardonnay from prized vineyards of the Côte des Blancs. In the glass, it has a bright pink hue, crossed by a delicate and persistent perlage. The bouquet expresses hints of apple and white fruit, citrus notes, and aromas of wild strawberries, small red berry fruits, enriched by delicate spicy nuances. The sip is vital and energetic, with a crunchy fruit and a harmonious finish of pleasant mineral freshness.
