The Champagne Extra Brut “Extra Old” by Veuve Clicquot is a label that expresses all the charm and elegance of the great cuvées of the famous Maison in Reims. It is a classic blend made with Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay, sourced from 20 different selected crus of the estate. The vins clairs of the vintage are combined with reserve wines, making the Champagne particularly rich, intense, and aromatically mature. This Champagne perfectly summarizes the Veuve Clicquot style, with floral and fruity aromas, accompanied by soft evolving notes, finding a harmonious expressive balance in a pleasantly refreshing finish.
The cuvée sans année “Extra Old” by Veuve Clicquot is an Extra Brut Champagne produced by one of the historic Maisons of Reims, founded as far back as the late 1700s. Within a few decades, the young widow Clicqot Ponsardin took the helm of the company. At just 27 years old, she immediately demonstrated competence, capability, and business acumen. Under her guidance, the Maison began to grow until it became one of the most important realities in the region. Today, Veuve Clicquot manages 390 vineyards, of which 86% are in areas classified as Grand Cru or Premier Cru. Every year, it can thus rely on extraordinary quality grapes and an infinite number of base wines to create the cuvées. The Maison's style is based on the use of high percentages of reserve wines, which allow maintaining the same taste over time for non-vintage Champagnes.
The Extra Brut “Extra Old” from the Maison Veuve Clicquot is a Champagne that is crafted from a selection of grapes sourced from many different territories of Champagne, Montagne de Reims, Cote des Bar, Cote des Blanc, Vallée de la Marne, and Massif de Saint Thierry. It represents the great tradition of the art of blending, which has always been the foundation of great Champagnes, also highlighted by the extensive use of reserve wines. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Méthode Champenoise, with a resting period on the lees of 36 months. It presents itself to the view with a beautiful intense yellow color, with brilliant golden highlights, marked by an endless chain of bubbles. The bouquet is complex and broad, with aromas of citrus, ripe fruit, soft spices, pastry, butter, and dried fruit. The sip opens creamy and rich, supported by a vibrant freshness and a typically mineral imprint.
