The Deutz Brut Champagne ‘Hommage à William Deutz Meurtet’ is a vintage Blanc de Noir of exceptional quality and elegance that pays tribute to William Deutz, founder of the Maison back in 1838. This Champagne is produced in a limited edition from only Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the historic lieu-dit of Meurtet, located in the village of Aÿ and classified as Grand Cru. Previously, the grapes intended for this bottle were destined for the generic cuvée ‘Hommage à William Deutz’, resulting from the blending of the lieu-dits La Côte Glaciére and Meurtet, cru vinified separately since the 2012 harvest following the intuition of the chef de cave Michel Davesne.
The Deutz ‘Hommage à William Deutz Meurtet’ Champagne Brut is crafted from pure Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the single plot of Meurtet, planted in 1990 with an east-facing exposure. After harvesting, the bunches are vinified in white through soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with subsequent complete malolactic fermentation.stainless steel, followed by a complete malolactic fermentation. The sparkling base is then allowed to rest for a few months before the second fermentation in the bottle according to the Champenoise Method, with aging lasting at least 48 months until the degorgement and final dosage to Brut.
In the glass, the 'Hommage à William Deutz Meurtet' Brut Champagne from Deutz shows an intense straw yellow color with fine and elegant bubbles. The aromatic spectrum highlights complex scents of white peach, small red fruits, pineapple, orange peel, wisteria, and underbrush, with mineral sensations of flint providing a backdrop. The taste is perfectly balanced between the roundness enhanced by the creamy effervescence and the pronounced mineral freshness that outlines the persistent finish.
