The Brunello di Montalcino by Baricci is born in the Tuscan area most renowned in the world for the production of red wines of unparalleled quality. Nello Baricci opened the doors of his business in 1955 and, with the help of his wife Ada, began cultivating the surrounding lands, being aware of the potential of each single plot; in 1967 he founded the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino together with some producers from the area, and officially in 1971 his first vintage of Brunello di Montalcino saw the light. In the years to come, his daughter Graziella joined the company and, with her husband and two sons Francesco and Federico, brought new prestige to the winery, thanks to modern winemaking techniques and a marked attention to nature and the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards. In 2012, Tommaso was born, representing the future potential of the Baricci work.
The vineyards of Brunello di Montalcino by Baricci rise on the Montosoli Hill, one of the most prestigious and ancient Crus of Montalcino. The exposure is to the south/south-west, an ideal condition for the sun's rays to hit the rows for a good part of the year, ensuring excellent ripening of the grapes. The intervention in the vineyard is kept to the minimum necessary and the use of pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic chemical substances is avoided, along with traditional and ancient processing methods. The harvest is conducted manually; alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel for 20 days thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts. It ages for 36 months in Slavonian barrels.
Visually, the Brunello di Montalcino by Baricci appears a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The aromas are those of red berry fruits such as strawberry, raspberry, and currant combined with sweet spicy notes; on the palate it is enveloping, elegant, and with a balanced structure for an intriguing sip glass after glass. Perfect with cuts of red meat typical of Tuscan tradition cooked in stew and grilled, local game, and first courses dressed with elaborate sauces; also interesting with aged sheep's milk cheeses. Excellent for being sipped slowly during evenings characterized by conviviality, rediscovering ancient and forgotten flavors.
