The Argentine winery Chakana presents the Bonarda ‘Sobrenatural’, a agile and pleasantly rustic red wine produced from the native variety that is now widely spread in the country. In fact, Bonarda, originally from northern Italy, has found great success in Argentina, where it is the second most cultivated black grape variety after Malbec. The ‘Sobrenatural’ range is produced under certified organic and biodynamic conditions without added sulfites. As can be inferred, “sobrenatural” is a Spanish word meaning “supernatural”, highlighting the minimal agronomic and enological intervention through which this line is made.
Chakana ‘Sobrenatural’ Bonarda is crafted from the same-named grape worked in purity. The vineyards, cultivated following the principles of certified organic and biodynamic agriculture, rest on clayey-sandy soils in the famous Mendoza area. Following the harvest, the bunches are vinified in red through alcoholic fermentation carried out exclusively by indigenous yeasts.indigenous in concrete tanks, where the mass rests for a few months. Throughout the entire processing, the liquid undergoes no addition of sulfur.
To the eye, the 'Sobrenatural' Bonarda from Chakana shows a beautiful cherry red color. On the nose, it primarily releases strong aromas of ripe fruit, accompanied by earthy, balsamic, and vegetal sensations. The taste, balanced and juicy, reveals good freshness and light tannin, as well as a rustic and fruity finish. For its straightforward and pleasantly rough character, the Bonarda 'Sobrenatural' is the ideal pairing for sausages, trimmings, and grilled lamb ribs on the barbecue.
