'Blanco' Dominio del Pidio 2017
Artisanal"Blanco" of the Dominio del Pidio winery is a fresh and tasty Spanish white wine, capable of accompanying fish dishes and entertaining the palate with a suave drinkability. It is made from pure Albillo Criollo grapes and vinified in cement with only indigenous yeasts, while it is aged in small French oak barrels for 6-8 months. The colour is golden yellow with brilliant reflections while the bouquet is reminiscent of summer fruits and flowers. The taste is fresh, agile, fruity, soft and with a finish of excellent persistence.
Dominio del Pidio Blanco represents a interpretation of great finesse and authenticity of the Ribera del Duero, a Spanish wine region crossed by the river of the same name that flows into the Portuguese Atlantic coast. Within the province of Burgos, this artisanal production reality continues to write the millenary enological history of the area, passionately and dedicatedly cultivating 13 hectares of old vines. The transformation facility is carved into suggestive underground galleries dug into the rock, which represent one of the oldest winemaking sites in all of Spain.
The Blanco of Dominio del Pidio is a pure expression of Albillo, an indigenous variety characterized by expressive finesse. The vineyards of origin have ages ranging from 40 to 100 years and are located within the municipality of Quintana del Pidio on clay-sandy soils at an altitude of 870 meters. The harvest is entirely manual, alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously in concrete tanks, and maturation takes placein French oak barrels of 228 and 500 liters for a period of 6-8 months, spent on fine lees. The aging process takes place in the estate's premises located 18 meters underground, at a constant temperature.
In the glass, the Albillo Blanco Dominio del Pidio shows an intriguing golden yellow hue with brilliant reflections. The nose is fragrant and delicate, with hints of fresh summer and tropical fruit accompanied by floral notes.
