The Barolo "Ravera" by Vietti is a great expression of this monumental and unique denomination. Today the winery is American-owned, a transition that has not undermined the soul of the winery, but is part of the nature of modern economy, aimed at diversifying and implementing its own resources to penetrate even deeper into certain markets. The historic family is represented by the innovative yet tradition-conscious work of Alfredo Currado, winemaker and the first proponent to vinify great wines from single, prized vineyards.
The cru Ravera, which gives its name to this elegant Barolo, is planted with Nebbiolo and sits on a calcareous-clay soil facing southwest near the municipality of Novello. The vines, no longer young in age, express their connection to the land they inhabit, giving rise to characterful fruits from which wines are born that should be appreciated over time, with a drinkability that is never immediate.
