“Reius” is an Amarone della Valpolicella resulting from the centuries-old experience of one of the historic wineries in the Veronese area. The Sartori family has been cultivating vineyards in these lands since the 1800s and today manages a large estate based in Negrar. The grapes of Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella, and other native varieties come from a selection of the best company vineyards located in hilly areas in the classic area of Valpolicella. The vines are cultivated on calcareous soils, with the presence of clays, very suited for red grape varieties. During the harvest, the best bunches are selected and transported to the drying room, where they are placed on racks to dry for 3 or 4 months. The berries slowly dehydrate, concentrating the aromas and sugars. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature with maceration on the skins for about a month. The wine matures in concrete for several months, also undergoing malolactic fermentation, before moving to medium and large oak barrels, where it rests for at least 3 years. Before being put on the market, it completes the aging process with six months in the bottle.
The Amarone della Valpolicella “Reius”, from the Veronese winery Sartori, is the ambassador of the territory in the world. It is a wine of great prestige, to be served at important occasions, to accompany braised dishes with red wine and slow-cooked beef. It presents itself with a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. Intense and rich, it captivates with a complex and elegant aromatic palette, with aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, ripe red plum, spirit-soaked cherry, blackcurrant jam, hints of underbrush, vanilla, cinnamon, soft oriental spices, bitter cocoa, and hints of roasting. Of remarkable structure, it has velvety tannins and a warm and enveloping sip, with dense and harmonious fruit, which unfolds towards a long and very persistent finish.
